Ramblers Walk - The Braan & Rumbling Bridge

This walk starts and finishes in the National Trust car park at the Hermitage (NO 013 422), accessed from the A9. Car park charge applies.

The walk goes first to Ossian's Hall, a folly with a fine view over a waterfall in the River Braan, and a fascinating history of both the folly and of Ossian. It proceeds past Ossian's cave and through woodland. Part of the route follows the line of one of General Caulfeild's military roads. The falls at Rumbling Bridge are well-named. After crossing the bridge, the route goes out on to open ground, still on a track, to go past Tomgarrow and then through woodland to reach the pretty hamlet of Inver, associated with famous fiddler Niel Gow, and another bridge over the Braan before returning to the car park.
