More Information (Heartland FM is not responsible for external websites)

The week-long initiative encourages exploration of the digital landscape and its impact on people with learning disabilities.

Since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic, our reliance on digital technology has surged. However, this may have presented barriers for people with learning disabilities to join in the digital transformation. The online landscape, while full of opportunities, also presents risks. The aim of this week is to empower and support individuals with learning disabilities to navigate the online world safely.

This week of events will take place from Monday, 6th May until Friday, 10th May.

Monday

10 am to 12 Noon - Opening

Jacquie Pepper, Chief Officer of Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership will be opening the week of events. Performances from the Jollity Choir and Makaton Choir will welcome everyone.

10.30 am until 11.30 am | Hear our Roar!

Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership are thrilled to share the formation of a new group specifically for people with learning disabilities. Thanks to generous funding from Perth and Kinross Council's Angel Share scheme to fund innovation projects, they're embarking on an empowering journey, beginning with the launch of a new group Hear our Roar!

The aim of this group is to ensure people with learning disabilities are heard. They possess a powerful voice, a mighty roar, however, they often encounter barriers to living well and struggle to be heard or taken seriously.

The goal is to establish an active group led by people with disabilities within Perth and Kinross where influencers, leaders and advocates can come together, speak up, and actively shape decisions that directly impact them. This group will serve as a safe space for sharing ideas, thoughts and concerns and provide a platform which will amplify their voices on topics that concern them.
