I first joined Heartland fm in 1998 when Colin Philips approached me and asked would if I would like to present a Scottish Programme on the radio with me having a collection of over 700 records it was no problem to find enough material to do a 1hour slot which was the start of Eddie’s Archives.
Many of the Scottish artists that I play, I have had the pleasure to work with over the years such as my idol the late Andy Stewart, Kenneth Mackellar ,Jim Mcleod and Jimmy Blue also Peter Morrison, Bill Wilkie, Jimmy Lindsay and Ian Powrie and many more.
Since my programme increased to 2hours I have been able to include more middle of the road and Irish Country Music - I now also include many requests from all over Perthshire, Fife and Angus and now that we are on the Internet at www.heartlandfm.co.uk who knows where in the world the next request will come from.
I came to Pitlochry from my home village of Cromdale Morayshire in 1965 to work at BlairAthol Distillery I worked there for 35yrs. I always enjoyed entertaining and was a member of The Clachan Players in Grantown on Spey.
When I came to Pitlochry the late Bert Cameron asked me to join his concert party which involved entertaining at the Highland Nights. I also worked with the late Sir Jimmy Shand in 1973. Then with the late Ronnie Coburn I did many Scottish tours and also toured Canada and America.
In 1980 I began entertaining at The Bells Distillery Ceilidhs for the licence trade; I was there for 12yrs.
I really enjoy presenting my archives programme it’s a great challenge to try and keep Scottish Music alive.
Please keep listening and send in your requests to Radio Heartland.
